Hills Trials for Sydney Cup and Association Cup

24 Jul by Karen Jeffs

With the Representative season commencing on 1st September, we need to start the selection trials next Sunday, July 28th for U12 and U14. Venue will be Kellyville (located off Stone Mason Drive) with U12 commencing at 9:30am U14 at 1:00pm. Yet to set a date for U16 trials.

Hills will be entering teams in both U12 and U14 Sydney and Association Cup Competitions, there will be only Sydney Cup for U16.  Both Sydney & Association Cup will consist of six games plus Finals. All Hills teams will have a 12-player roster. We are not selecting Reserves, so it is important that players are available for all games. There are no games scheduled for October long weekend.

BNSW is offering an U13 Girls Competition. Hills has nominated a team; however, I have doubts that we can field a team in our own right. If we cannot field a team, it may be possible to combine with another Association. Trials for Girls team will commence on Sunday August 4th. Girls also need to pre-register to trial.

Sydney Cup commences 1st September and plays every fortnight, Association Cup commences on 8th September and plays on alternate week to Sydney Cup. Both Finals are 8th December, 2024.

Eligibility dates are as follows

Under 12 September 2012 to August, 2014

Under 14 September, 2010 to August, 2012

Under 16 September, 2008 to August. 2010

Players need to pre -register to trial, email to johnyardhere@yahoo.com.au by Thursday 25th July with details of Players Name; Club; DOB and two preferred positions. Trials are open to all registered Hills players, provided that they have not changed Clubs or Associations since 2023-24 Season.

Players involved in both U12 & U13 LL World Series are eligible to nominate to trial. However, it is suggested that the lead pitchers in both teams consider not playing in the summer representative teams to avoid the possibility of ‘overuse’ injuries.

There is a change to the eligibility. Any player who owes Hills money will be ineligible for selection in either team. Those that have a repayment plan must be up to date with their payments as at 26th July to be eligible to trial.

Players are to wear their Club or neutral uniforms to the trials. Hills uniform items, including caps cannot be worn at the trials.

For those new to Representative Baseball, the playing standard is expected to be above that of Hills’ division one competitions, as Associations are limited to entering only one team per competition. Estimated cost is less than $200 per player.
